Just before Christmas I worked with the talented and very lovely Humna Mustafa, artist and Henna tattoo designer. She has produced her henna design into pottery tableware, mostly bowls, each one with it's own unique pattern. I was thrilled when she approached me to ask if I would collaborate with her to create some eye catching photographs for her to use to promote her crockery. When I met her the first time she demonstrated to me how much of her soul goes into each design and the patterns flow from her with passion and precision.
We had a lot of discussion about feel and emotion Humna wanted from the shoot but being inspired by my own portfolio of work she trusted me completely to go with my own instincts. this gave e a lot of freedom to work around the design of her own work and they fitted together beautifully. Using bespoke backgdrops specially designed and a selection of fruits, grains, seeds and nuts combined with my still life style of lighting the shoot came together. I had an opportunity to experiment and play with the compositions and ideas I had.
Humna was so pleased with the results she has made me my own piece of bespoke art work. A beautiful manadala that represents me and my family unit. Humna takes so much care and executes every pen or brush stroke with love and patience which reflects in her personality.
